Aproximadamente 1.050 familias de poblados de Guanajuato, San Lus Potos y Zacatecas que radican y han construdo su propio barrio en la ciudad de Fort Worth, han construdo tambin su nuevo entorno en Texas y, a travs de sus envos de dinero (remesas) mensuales a sus comunidades de origen, han mantenido en funcionamiento sus pueblos. A travs de casi medio siglo de trabajo y residencia en los EU, estos que han emigrado desde sus pueblos de Guanajuato, San Lus Potos y Zacatecas (entre otros) han logrado integrar, transformar y apropiar con xito ambos sitios dentro de lo que podemos decir que es un slo entorno cultural. En esta investigacin, mostramos que existen grupos socioculturales que han logrado apropiarse social y culturalmente, de espacios en otro pas, y que este xito se debe a las caractersticas particulares de su historia local, dentro de un contexto econmico nacional y mundial. Este libro describe un tipo de migracin madura, con cincuenta aos de historia, que difiere en mucho de formas de migracin recientes donde los sujetos se enfrentan a condiciones adversas y su falta de conocimiento del nuevo ambiente les hace sufrir grandes penalidades y an la muerte.
