Este libro, originalmente tesis doctoral, se ocupa de comparar y analizar cmo ha sido relatada y explicada la famosa guerra entre Azcapotzalco y MexicoTenochtitlan por las distintas fuentes histricas. A la vez, examina la importancia de la constitucin del sistema de alianzas como una constante histrica, tanto para la resolucin de la guerra como despus de ella, a partir del nuevo reacomodamiento geopoltico de los diferentes centros de la Cuenca de Mxico. As, el objetivo de este trabajo es proponer la idea de que a este acontecimiento, la guerra, se lo podra explicar como un hito fundante del nuevo poder tenochca, ya que la misma pudo haber sido sobredimensionada a partir de una reinterpretacin y seleccin histrica de los hechos. De esta manera esta obra se propone analizar la guerra entre MexicoTenochtitlan y Azcapotzalco desde otras perspectivas y miradas, pensar en torno a su significacin y el sentido que tuvo su construccin como un hecho histrico.
