This is the first comprehensive account of feminist politics in Great Britain from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. The authors trace the movements accomplishments and defeats over four successive conservative government terms. They identify and examine five key areas of British feminist politicspolitical representation and citizenship, equal employment opportunities, reproductive rights and health, motherhood and childcare, and male violence. In each of these areas, the authors explore both developments in feminist theory and the grassroots movements.

Although the topic is essential, I found the execution lacking. Some chapters felt rushed and didn't explore issues deeply enough. I was hoping for more detailed case studies on women in power. It’s informative, but I expected better.

Not What I Expected
I anticipated a lighter read about modern feminism, but this book goes into heavy political analysis. While it's well-researched, I felt some sections could have been more engaging. Still, it's an important topic, and I appreciate the effort put into it.

A Must-Read for Activists
As someone passionate about women's rights, I loved this book! It connects the past struggles to current political landscapes effectively. The writing is powerful and made me reflect on so much. I’d suggest it to anyone interested in feminism in a political context.

Thought-Provoking Read
The book dives deep into the role of women in British politics, and I found it incredibly insightful. It's a bit dense at times, but the historical context paired with contemporary issues makes it valuable. I bought this for my book club, and everyone had a lot to discuss!
