En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de un estudio de correlacin lateral en tres localidades de la Cuenca Central de Falcn de Venezuela, donde la carencia de una seccin tipo completa, la similitud litolgica, presencia de capas de carbn de forma indistinta, problemas estructurales complejos y el pobre contenido de fsiles han impedido establecer la correlacin. La aplicacin de estadstica no paramtrica (comparacin de cocientes coincidentes (CCC) a una serie de atributos qumicos (quimioestratigrafa), permiti en primera instancia seleccionar 8 elementos qumicos como las variables para la aplicacin de CCC. Los resultados de la aplicacin de la herramienta estadstica junto con criterios litolgicos permitieron establecer correlacin entre la columna litoestratigrfica de la concesin Mina La Cuesta con la de la quebrada La Paloma, especficamente hacia la base de la columna. Esto implica que la herramienta empleada permite reducir la incertidumbre inicial en la correlacin, sirviendo de apoyo a otras de las tcnicas utilizadas hasta el momento en este tipo de evaluaciones.
