"Cotton Production in Turkmenistan. Economic Analysis of Subsector" analyses agricultural policy reforms in Turkmenistan in 19961997. This includes the overview of world's tendencies in cotton production; description of major changes in approaches to the agricultural production, including organziation, inputs provision and credits. The policy itself was analysed by employming Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) instrument, using comparison of governmentsuppored and private production. Budgetary implications of private versus state cotton production were analysed. The competitiveness of cotton production, both external and internal, was examined. Various policy options were proposed as the result of the analysis. The book has good reference materials and could be useful for scientists, decisionmakers and interested in the region.
