El hallazgo del petrleo en 1907 encauz el dinamismo econmico y social de la ciudad, manteniendo a travs del tiempo y de las diferentes etapas de la economa, su perfil petrolero, generando la expansin de su espacio urbano. El libro se presenta en cuatro (4) partes. Inicindolo con un anlisis del proceso de organizacin territorial de la ciudad de Comodoro Rivadavia. Luego se presentan las tres etapas de la economa argentina aplicadas al escenario local. Y las estrategias de Desarrollo local propuestas por el Estado Municipal. Finalizando con la situacin actual de la ciudad, con relacin del crecimiento urbano y tierras ganadas al mar.
