Escrita por Geoffrey Chaucer, presenta una estructura semejante al Decamern, de Boccaccio. Los cuentos, escritos en ingls medio, estn contenidos en una narrativa mayor y son contados por un grupo de peregrinos que viajan desde Southwark a Canterbury para visitar el templo de Santo Thomas Becket, en la Catedral de Canterbury. La obra resulta de inters, tanto para sus contemporneos como en la actualidad, porque fue la primera obra literaria escrita en ingls; antes de Chaucer slo se escriba en francs o en latn. Los cuentos fueron escritos a finales del siglo XIV.About the AuthorGeoffrey Chaucer (1343 1400), fue un escritor, filsofo, diplomtico y poeta ingls, conocido sobre todo por ser autor de los Cuentos de Canterbury.
