Das vorliegende Buch beschftigt sich mit den Gefhlsbeziehungen von Eltern und Kindern in der Zeit zwischen 1200 und 1650. Als Quellenmaterial dienen die ltesten berlieferten Autobiografien im deutschen Sprachraum. Auf die religisen mittelalterlichen Autobiografien aus dem mystischen Umfeld folgten im 15. Jahrhundert die ersten skularen Werke. Der Groteil der berlieferten Autobiografien, die berhaupt Darstellungen der Kindheit enthalten, sind in der hier vorliegenden Sammlung von 20 Schriften enthalten. Im vorliegenden Buch werden psychohistorischpsychoanalytische Rekonstruktionen von historischen Kindheiten ausgefhrt. Dabei wird im Grunde genommen das fortgesetzt, was der jeweilige Autobiograf bereits begonnen hat: die Ausfhrung einer Rekonstruktion seiner individuellen Kindheit. Im Mittelpunkt des vorliegenden Beitrags zur Psychohistorie deutscher Kindheit stehen die Beziehungen des Autobiografen zu seinen Eltern, also die erlebte Kindheit aus der Sicht einer historischen Person. Der Vergleich der autobiografischen Darstellungen von Beziehungen zeigt einen tiefgreifenden historischen Wandel der Kindheit. Dieser Wandel brachte historisch neue Persnlichkeiten hervor, die historisch neue Beziehungsformen, neue Traumata und neue psychische Verarbeitungsmechanismen entwickelten. Im Laufe des untersuchten Zeitabschnitts entstanden neue Formen des Umgangs mit dem Kind und vor allem eine zunehmende Fhigkeit der Eltern zur Empathie mit den eigenen Kindern.
