Ist es Aristoteles oder Plinius oder Buffon? Nein! Es ist Robinson Crusoe. Rousseaus fiktiver Schler Emil, dessen Erziehung in Emil oder ber die Erziehung aus dem Jahre 1762 im Vordergrund steht, soll ohne Bcher heranreifen. Er soll lernen, seinen Krper und seine Wahrnehmung zu beherrschen und die Dinge zu beurteilen, die auf ihn zukommen. Er soll keine abstrakten Dinge erlernen, sondern nur solche, deren Ntzlichkeit er auch begreift. Der Unterricht beruht auf der Prfung der Dinge je nach den realen Umstnden, in denen sie erscheinen. Und obwohl Rousseau in seinem Werk zudem offen bekennt, dass er Bcher hasse , da sie nur lehren [...], von dem zu reden, was man nicht wei , macht er wie das Eingangszitat zeigt eine Ausnahme von dieser Aversion, nmlich das erste Buch, welches sein Emil lesen soll : Daniel Defoes Robinson Crusoe. Dieser Abenteuerroman aus dem Jahre 1719 soll Emil beides, Unterhaltung und Belehrung sein. Doch nicht nur Rousseau ist bekennender Freund von Defoes Roman, auch Goethe, Hesse und viele andere uerten sich begeistert, und bis in die jetzige Zeit ist Robinson Crusoe ein Klassiker, welcher Alt und Jung gleichermaen anspricht und der heute noch so bekannt ist wie zu Lebzeiten Defoes.
