Alternant ses correspondances entre Le Caire et Jrusalem, le journaliste fut un tmoin majeur des guerres de 67 et de 73, dont il raconte les coulisses. Il en rencontra tous les acteurs : Nasser, Levi Eshkol, Moshe Dayan, Golda Meir, Yasser Arafat, Ariel Sharon, Anouar elSadate, etc., dont il donne des portraits saisissants.
