The thirtyeight Danzas Cubanas of Ignacio Cervantes (18471905) were originally written for the piano and conceived as a page in the album of the Romantic Century . Together with improvised components, this music reflects the popular melodic and rhythmic unity which reached its apex in Cuban dances as performed at dance academies.
