So knnen lange Krankenzeiten, notwendige Hilfsmittel und andere unfallbedingte Folgeerscheinungen schnell auch die gesicherte finanzielle Grundlage des Verunfallten und im schlimmsten Fall der gesamten Familie auf den Kopf stellen. Trgt man dem Umstand Rechnung, dass der arbeitende Mensch in der Regel den Groteil seines Tages mit der Verrichtung seiner Arbeitsttigkeit verbringt, so wird deutlich, dass die potenzielle Gefahr eines Unfalles am Arbeitsplatz sehr hoch einzustufen ist. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschftigt sich mit einer allgemeinen Darstellung der gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung, wobei im zweiten Kapitel mit der Vorstellung des versicherten Personenkreises begonnen wird. Anschlieend werden die versicherten Gegebenheiten dargestellt, um nachfolgend die gesetzlichen Leistungen darzulegen. Das fnfte Kapitel beschftigt sich danach mit der Organisation und der Finanzierung der Unfallversicherung. Abschlieend wird in einer kritischen Wrdigung die aktuelle Situation der gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung dargestellt. Dabei muss der Frage nachgegangen werden, ob in Zeiten, in denen die Senkung der Lohn und Lohnnebenkosten ein allumfassendes Politikum geworden ist, die gesetzliche Unfallversicherung berhaupt noch eine Rechtfertigung erlangen kann.
