Diese Zahlen zeigen deutlich die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung des Gesundheitsmarktes fr die konomische Entwicklung auf. Umsatz und Beschftigungszuwachs fhren allerdings zu steigenden Ausgaben, die im Gesundheitswesen unerwnscht sind. Der Versuch, diese zu begrenzen, fhrt zu erheblichen Krisenerscheinungen, die mittlerweile auch den Sektor der Altenpflege betreffen. Diskussionen um Personalmangel, Qualitt der Pflege und Kostendruck sind hier einige Erscheinungen dieser Entwicklung. Pflegeeinrichtungen sehen sich gleichzeitig einem zunehmenden Wettbewerb ausgesetzt, der trotz der demographischen Entwicklung zu einer stagnierenden bzw. sinkenden Auslastung in den Einrichtungen fhrt. Neueintretende Mitbewerber und auch die Globalisierung des Gesundheitsmarktes mit einem zunehmenden Konkurrenzdruck durch auslndische Anbieter stellen das Management von Pflegeeinrichtungen vor ungewohnte Herausforderungen. Das Konzept der Balanced Scorecard vereinfacht als ausbalanciertes Kennzahlensystem bersetzt gilt als innovatives ManagementSystem, das dies leisten kann.
