Gibt man den Begriff Burnout' in die Suchmaschine Google' ein, so erhlt man 22.000.000 Treffer (vgl. Google 2009). Gibt man hingegen Influenza' ein, also ebenfalls eine weltweit verwendete Krankheitsdiagnose, so erhlt man lediglich 18.100.000 Treffer (vgl. Google 2009a). Dies ist ein Indiz dafr, welche Bedeutung dem BurnoutBegriff' derzeit zugestanden wird. Man kann fr die Zukunft von einer Intensivierung der Thematik ausgehen. Im Folgenden wird der Verfasser zunchst die Entwicklung des Begriffs Burnout' skizzieren, um im Anschluss daran ausgewhlte Definitionen des BurnoutSyndroms darzustellen. Der Vollstndigkeit halber wird auch eine quantitative Analysemethode kurz dargestellt. Um das Syndrom etwas greifbarer zu machen, wird der Verfasser die BurnoutSymptomatologie nach Burisch vorstellen. Hierbei wird auch deutlich, wie gefhrlich Burnout fr alle Beteiligten sein kann. Anhand des Zwiebelschalenmodells wird diskutiert, in welchen Lebens und Arbeitsbereichen Ursachen fr Burnout zu finden sind. Nachdem die theoretischen Grundlagen gelegt sind, wird der Praxisfall aus dem Arbeitsumfeld des Verfassers beschrieben. Unter Bezugnahme auf die konsensfhige organisationsbezogene tiologie verschiedener Autoren, wird offensichtlich, welche Faktoren im konkreten Fall dem Burnout Vorschub geleistet haben knnten. Analog werden Ansatzpunkte aufgezeigt, wie aus organisationaler Sicht die BurnoutRisiken minimiert werden knnen. Es wird aber auch begrndet, warum es einen hundertprozentigen Schutz vor Burnout nicht geben kann.
