Zu gro ist die Vielfltigkeit der Forschungsdisziplinen und deren Studien, die Medien und insbesondere das Fernsehen begutachten. So beschftigen sich Publizistik, Kommunikations, Medien, Literatur, Kulturwissenschaften und ebenso die Psychologie, die Pdagogik und die Soziologie mit dieser Thematik und bringen alljhrlich eine Flle von Literatur zustande, die kaum zu berblicken ist.1 In der Vielfltigkeit dieser wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen ist auch die Kontroverse offensichtlich, mit der dieses Thema diskutiert wird. Daher habe ich mich entschlossen einen kleinen Teil dieser Diskussion aufzugreifen und verschiedene Forschungsanstze aufzuzeigen. Dieser kleine Teil beschreibt die Zuschauer von Fernsehen, die es ermglichten, dass Fernsehen in seiner sehr kurzen Geschichte, verglichen etwa zu dem Buch, zum Leitmedium geworden ist. Gerade hierbei liegt einer meiner Schwerpunkte, die ich nachfolgend begutachten mchte. Versteckt in dem Grau der Statistik und deren Zahlen sind viele Aspekte der Fernsehnutzung verborgen, deren Aufgreifen und Erklren vielerlei Phnomene erklren wird. Dabei ist von wesentlichem Interesse herauszufinden, inwiefern diese riesige Zuschauergunst aus welchem Grund auf unterschiedliche Sender und Formate verteilt ist und wie sich diese Verteilung in den letzten Jahren vernderte seitdem Groe Brder' von Gute Zeiten Schlechte Zeiten' berichten. In diesem Kontext ist es wichtig aufzuzeigen, in welchem Mae sich die Rezeption von Formaten mit unterschiedlichen Zielen, der Information auf der einen Seite, der Unterhaltung auf der anderen, verndert hat und welchen Stellenwert dies
