Im abendlndischen Kulturkreis hat die damals nur katholische Kirche bis zum Beginn der Neuzeit, der etwa mit 1500 n.Chr. angesetzt wird, nicht nur die Religion, sondern auch alle Wissenschaften dominiert und so ein geschlossenes Weltbild geprgt. Seit der Zeit der groen WeltEntdeckungen haben sich jedoch die sogenannten exakten Naturwissenschaften unaufhaltsam weiter entwickelt, whrend die christlichen Kirchen starr an den seit dem Mittelalter berlieferten Lehren und Dogmen festgehalten haben. Die Wissenschaft hat beginnend mit Galileo Galilei immer mehr Tatsachen entdeckt, die in diametralem Gegensatz zur kirchlichen Lehre gestanden sind. Dadurch hat sich das Weltbild aufgespalten in ein theologisches Gottesbild und ein davon gnzlich losgelstes wissenschaftliches Weltbild, wobei beide Disziplinen vermeintlich ohne Wechselwirkung zwischen einander ihre eigene Suche nach der Wahrheit betrieben haben. Es soll nun versucht werden, ein neues Gottesbild, das nicht mehr im Widerspruch zur wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis steht, zu entwickeln, so dass sich daraus zum ersten Mal wieder ein geschlossenes, die Metaphysik und die Physik gleichermaen umfassendes Weltbild ergeben knnte.
