Hierzu werden mehrere Bildmaterialien untersucht und ausgewertet. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf der These, dass sich Diokletians Manahmen zur Stabilisierung des rmischen Reiches, die Machtaufteilung auf mehrere Regenten und die neuen Reformen, auch in der bildhaften Darstellung der Tetrarchen wieder finden lsst. Hier ist ein Wandel vom Soldatentypus hin zu etwas Neuem zu beobachten, obwohl man festhalten muss, dass sich gewisse Einflsse des Soldatentypus finden lassen. Individuelle Zge treten dennoch in Darstellungen zurck und weichen einer Motivik der Gleichheit und Angepasstheit. Die Idee der Similitudo der Kaiser in der bildhaften Wiedergabe der Tetrarchen soll als Symbol verstanden werden fr Macht, Strke, Standhaftigkeit und Zusammenhalt des neuen Herrschaftssystems.
