Ein Element, von dem Lynch selber behauptet, dass es sich in all seine Filme eingeschlichen (...)' hat, wird dabei hufig vernachlssigt: der Humor, die Komik. Er selbst misst dem Humor eine durchaus wichtige Position in seinem Werk bei, wenn er sagt: Ich finde es hchst interessant, wie der Humor in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft mit der Gewalt und dem Horror des Lebens existiert. Die Nhe dieser nur scheinbaren Gegenstze reizt mich', oder: Humor macht es meiner Meinung nach mglich, sozusagen als Nachbar neben all den horrorigen, brutalen und schwarzen Dingen leben zu knnen. Ich mag Humor ganz einfach.' Diese Arbeit nun soll untersuchen, welche Art von Komik David Lynch in seinen Filmen Eraserhead', Blue Velvet' und Lost Highway' einsetzt und auf welche spezifische Weise er das tut. Besonders spannend ist an diesem Thema, dass die drei ausgewhlten Filmen auf den ersten Blick alles andere als lustig erscheinen und dennoch, wie zu zeigen sein wird, Humor eine wichtige dramaturgische Rolle darin spielt. Wir werden dabei sogar feststellen, dass es eine Affinitt zwischen der Methode Lynch' , wie Georg Seelen David Lynchs spezielle Art des Filmemachens nennt, und bestimmten Komisierungsstrategien gibt. Schon in Eraserhead', Lynchs erstem Langfilm aus dem Jahre 1977, der hufig als sein persnlichster Film bezeichnet wird,
