Wenn das Thema berhaupt noch aufkommt, es scheint hufig schon alles gesagt zu sein, werden die immer gleichen Wutreden gehalten: Das Vor und Nachmittagsprogramm der privaten Sender werde nur noch mit sinnfreien Dokusoaps gefllt, die ffentlichen rechtlichen Sender gben unser' Geld nur fr Telenovelas aus und die guten Sachen kmen doch immer nur auf Arte' oder mitten in der Nacht. Aussagen, die vielleicht nicht wortwrtlich belegbar sind, die aber fast jeder aus eigener Erfahrung kennen drfte. Diese Diskussion ist natrlich nicht neu, ihr bekanntestes Beispiel ist wahrscheinlich Adornos Prolog zum Fernsehen' (1977: 7475). Nur im Kino oder in der Literatur, so scheint es, sei anspruchsvolle Unterhaltung zu erwarten; nur Filme und Bcher seien nicht nur Vergngen, sondern auch Kunst, so die kulturpessimistische Betrachtungsweise. Durch das Internet hat sich jedoch die Stellung des Konsumenten von bewegten Bildern zunehmend verndert, denn der Zuschauer hat die Mglichkeit, mndiger zu handeln als je zuvor. Ihm steht eine unzhlbare Menge von Inhalten offen, die er jederzeit abrufen kann, um das Programm nach seinen eigenen Wnschen zusammenstellen, und das, ohne sich an Vorgaben von Fernsehsendern halten zu mssen. Diese scheinen die Entwicklung sogar selbst zu bemerken und bieten den Zuschauern durch Angebote wie VideoonDemand und OnlineMediatheken ihre Inhalte ebenfalls zeitunabhngig an (vgl. Ji 2008: 7). All dies spricht eigentlich fr einen baldigen Untergang des klassischen Fernsehens.
