Die Anregung zu diesem Buch habe ich durch meine Vorlesungen an der Uni versitat Ktiln und an der Verwaltungs und WirtschaftsAkademie Dusseldorf erhalten. Es zeigte sich wiederholt, daB die Juristen an einer knappen Darstel lung der wirtschaftlichen Aspekte des Kreditwesens und die Vertreter der Volksund Betriebswirtschaft an einer entsprechenden Behandlung juristischer Grundfragen besonders interessiert sind. In der Tat laBt sich das Gebiet richtig nur von beiden Seiten her erfassen. Aber auch politische Momente dUrfen nicht unberucksichtigt bleiben. Alldem habe ich versucht Rechnung zu tragen. Das Kreditwesen ist in seiner Entwicklung noch nicht an einem Endpunkt an gelangt; einen Endpunkt kann es im Wirtschaftsleben auch niemals geben. Da her mag es problematisch erscheinen, daB das Buch auch Zahlenmaterial ent halt. Aber wenn diese Angaben vielfach auch nicht mehr als eine Moment aufnahme bieten, so ermtiglichen sie doch Vergleiche und geben damit Stoff fur weitere tJberlegungen an die Hand. Bedingt allein schon durch seinen Umfang, kann und soU das Buch nicht mehr als eine bescheidene Informationsquelle sein, die dazu beitragt, Nicht'Insidern' ein klareres Bild von der Vielfalt und Bedeutung der Kreditinstitute und von den besonderen Vorstellungen und Sorgen dieses Wirtschaftsgebiets zu ver mitteln. So kann es vielleicht auch helfen, Verstandnis fUr kreditwirtschaftliche Zusammenhange zu wecken.
