Der Hauptteil der Untersuchung erstellt eine Typologie der wichtigsten Adressaten. Im Zentrum des behandelten Textkorpus steht die franzsische Lyriktradition. Bei der Konzeption des Du weist sie einen zunehmenden Verzicht auf den effet de rel und eine wachsende Verrtselung auf. Exemplarisch manifestiert sich dieser Wandel in der neuartigen Musenkonzeption von Baudelaire, Mallarm, Bonnefoy. Die Einbeziehung deutscher und englischer Gedichte dient dem Nachweis von Vorkommensdichte und Facettenreichtum der untersuchten Sprechsituation und will darber hinaus zu Vergleichen anregen (z.B. Carpe diem von Ronsard bis Yeats; Selbstgesprch bei Villon, Rimbaud, Gottfried Benn; Geliebtenpreis von Louise Lab bis Shakespeare; Totenklage bei Victor Hugo, Friedrich Rckert, Ted Hughes).
