In unserem Schrifhum hat es bisher an einer praktischen Einfiihrung in die Technik und Befundung der Mammographie gefehlt, die den radiologisch tiitigen Arzt in die Lage versetzt, dieses interessante und wichtige Gebiet der Rontgen diagnostik in systematischer Weise anzugehen und auf dieser Basis weitere eigene Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Eine moglichst einfache, aber exakte Klassifizierung der Befunde soll vor allem der Verstandigung innerhalb der radiologisch tatigen Arzte dienen und dariiber hinaus spaterhin eine gemeinsame statistische Auswertung erlauben. Erfreulicherweise wird das von Herrn Oberarzt Dr. SEIFERT ausgearbei tete Schema jetzt bereits von vielen praktisch tatigen Radiologen und einer groBeren Zahl von Krankenhausern angewandt. Die personlichen Erfahrungen von Herrn Oberarzt Dr. SEIFERT griinden sich auf fast 16000 Mammographien, das diesem Buch zugrundeliegende Bildmaterial stammt aus der Auswertung von 8 000 Fallen. In bisher 23 Fortbildungsveranstaltungen konnte Herr Oberarzt Dr. SEIFERT in didaktischer Hinsicht die Erfahrungen erwerben, die ihren Niederschlag in diesem Buch gefunden haben. Er hat sich mit dem vorliegenden kleinen Lehrbuch ohne Zweifel ein groBes personliches Verdienst erworben, und es ist mir eine besondere Freude, daB diese Arbeit in der von mir geleiteten Strahlenklinik des Klinikum Essen entstehen konnte. Somit darf ich dem Buch eine weite Verbreitung unter den radiologisch tatigen Arzten wiinschen und vor allem die Hoffnung aussprechen, daB sein Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Friihdiagnose des weiblichen Brustkrebses und damit zur Anhebung unserer Heilungsziffern fiihren wird.
