Was ist darunter zu verstehen? Objektiv gesehen bedeutet Sicherheit die Abwesenheit von Gefahr. Unter subjektiver Sicherheit versteht man dagegen den Schutz vor Gefahr bzw. den Schutz vor anderen politischen Akteuren. Der Begriff Sicherheit ist in Europa eng mit zwei Wortpaaren verbunden: auf der einen Seite mit Freiheit und Selbstbestimmung und auf der anderen Seite mit Krieg und Frieden. Zentrale Elemente der europischen Sicherheitsstrukturen sind die konomie, die militrischen Potentiale der einzelnen Lnder, Allianzen und Koalitionen zwischen den Staaten, die geostrategische Lage des jeweiligen Landes, sowie die Kultur und Religion eines souvernen Staates. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, die grundlegenden Kennzeichen des franzsischen Hegemonialsystems whrend Herrschaft Napoleons ber Europa in der Zeit von 1799 bis 1815 darzustellen und zu erlutern. Die zentralen Elemente der europischen Sicherheitsstrukturen werden dabei als Grundlage verwendet. Im ersten Teil wird auf Kriege und Koalitionen im napoleonischen Europa eingegangen. Welche Allianzen und Vertrge wurden geschlossen? Danach werden die wirtschaftliche Situation in Europa und die internationalen Handelsbeziehungen in dieser Zeit beleuchtet. Welche Auswirkungen hat z.B. die Seeberlegenheit der britischen Flotte auf die Entwicklung der kontinentalen Wirtschaft? Im dritten Teil werden kulturelle und gesellschaftliche Aspekte untersucht.
