Jahrhunderts liegt. Allgemein handelt es sich bei der neoklassischen Wachstumstheorie um ein Konzept dieser Theoriefamilie. Der wohl wichtigste Beitrag stammt von Robert M. Solow aus dem Jahr 1956, der in seinem Aufsatz A Contribution to the Theory of Economic Growth' ein Modell zur Analyse langfristiger Entwicklung verffentlichte. Der Beschreibung der Grundannahmen vorweggenommen, geht Solow hier von einer geschlossenen Volkswirtschaft aus. Somit ist das Grundmodell fr wirtschaftsgeographische Fragestellungen zunchst unbrauchbar, da es keine regionalen Aussagen zulsst (KOTSCHATZKY 2001, S. 63). Erst ber eine Interpretation der theoretischen Konzeptionen auf die regionale Ebene, infolgedessen von der neoklassischen regionalen Wachstumstheorie gesprochen wird, ist das Modell aus geographischer Sicht anwendbar (BATHELT/GLCKLER 2003, S. 67; MAIER et al. 2006, S. 56; KULKE 2009, S. 277).
