Nach einem Jahrzehnt des Niedergangs befindet sich das russische Hochschulwesen seit 2000 in einem umfassenden Erneuerungsprozess. Moskau hat erkannt, dass die wirtschaftliche und politische Modernisierung des Landes nur mit einer Reform des Bildungswesens gelingen kann und versucht dieses den vernderten nationalen und internationalen Anforderungen anzupassen. Das Gelingen dieses Prozesses wird mageblich die Zukunftsfhigkeit des Landes beeinflussen. Universittswesens im Kontext des postsowjetischen Transformationsprozesses. Die Analyse erfolgt auf Ebene der Hochschule sowie auf regionaler, gesamtstaatlicher und internationaler Ebene. Neben Erkenntnissen ber das Wesen der heutigen russischen Hochschulreformen leistet die Studie einen Beitrag zum Verstndnis des Wandels von ZentrumRegionenBeziehungen in der Russischen Fderation. Die Arbeit illustriert ein zentrales Merkmal postsowjetischer Transformationsprozesse: Institutionen wie Universitten sind seit dem Ende der Sowjetunion zu eigenstndigen Akteuren geworden, die selbstbewusst ihre Interessen gegenber regionalen, fderalen und internationalen Organen und Organisationen vertreten. Die Monographie schliet mit ihrer Mehrebenenanalyse der Hochschulentwicklung im postsowjetischen Russland eine Lcke in der Osteuropaforschung. Anhand russischer Quellen und mehr als 50 Interviews mit Entscheidungstrgern aus Universitt, Verwaltung und Wirtschaft ermglicht die Untersuchung ein tieferes Verstndnis des postsowjetischen Transformationsprozesses insgesamt.
