Rappaport "Creating Shareholder Value" im Jahre 1986 ist die Diskussion um die richtige Messung von Unternehmenserfolg und Unter nehmensbewertung wieder voll entbrannt. Die Besonderheit der aktuellen Diskussion liegt darin, daB nun die Fragestellungen und die damit verbundenen Verfahrensvorschlage tief in die Unternehmenspraxis eindringen und zum Teil gravierende Ver anderungen der Verhaltensweisen und Systeme hervorgerufen haben, nach denen Unternehmen gesteuert und vom Kapitalmarkt beurteilt werden. In Deutschland hat sich zwar eine kleine Gruppe sehr einfluBreicher und angesehener Unternehmen intensiv um die praktische Umsetzung des Shareholder ValueAnsatzes bemiiht; insgesamt ist jedoch die Anerkennung dieses Prinzips weder in der Praxis, noch in der Lehrbuchliteratur oder gar in der Theorie sehr weit fortgeschritten, wenngleich eine Tendenz zur verstarkten Auseinandersetzung zu beobachten ist. Diese Situation macht es notwendig, die Griinde fUr die Shareholder ValueDebatte sowie die verschiedenen Varianten und Versionen, in denen diese Debatte gegenwartig gefUhrt wird, wissenschaftlich aufzuarbeiten und dabei zugleich die Umsetzungsmoglichkeiten und notwendigkeiten der verschiedenen Konzepte im Auge zu behalten. Diesem Anliegen widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Die besonderen Vorziige des Shareholder ValueKonzepts sind gegeniiber herkommlichen oder anderen neueren Ansatzen der PerformanceMessung herauszuarbeiten.
