Ist es berhaupt mglich, ein Talent frhzeitig zu identifizieren? Die Suche nach leistungsbestimmenden Merkmalen steht daher insgesamt im Mittelpunkt. Werden sie gefunden, mssen sie hinsichtlich ihrer Eignung fr die Talentprognose im Sprint beurteilt werden. Ob Leistungskriterien letztlich auch Talentkriterien sind, wird diese Arbeit beantworten. Auf der Suche nach leistungsbestimmenden Merkmalen wird zunchst auf den Talentbegriff eingegangen, der Hinweise gibt, in welcher Richtung ein Talent zu suchen bzw. zu finden sein knnte. Der Talentbegriff soll ein stndiger Begleiter" der Arbeit sein, um gefundene Merkmale in angemessener Weise einordnen zu knnen. Im Weiteren wird das Wesen des leichtathletischen Sprints analysiert. Anhand der aktuellen sportwissenschaftlichen Kenntnislage wird eine Betrachtung des Begriffs Schnelligkeit vorgenommen. Die somit erreichte Untergliederung der Schnelligkeit in ihre Bestandteile lsst Schlussfolgerungen auf leistungsrelevante Merkmale zu. Die Merkmale werden zunchst inhaltlich vorgestellt, um spter im Ergebnisteil ihre mgliche leistungsbestimmende Relevanz zu besttigen oder zu widerlegen.
