About the Author Geboren am 19.6.1792 in Stuttgart; gestorben am 4.11.1850 in Stuttgart. Als Sohn eines Professors und Geheimen Hofrats wuchs Schwab in der christlichhumanistischen Atmosphre des schwbischen Bildungsbrgertums auf. Nach dem Besuch des Stuttgarter Gymnasiums studierte er 18091814 in Tbingen zwei Jahre Philologie und Philosophie, dann Theologie am Evangelischen Stift. Nach einer Ttigkeit als Repetent am Tbinger Stift begann er seine Berufsttigkeit 1818 als Professor fr Latein am Stuttgarter Obergymnasium. 1837 trat er ein Pfarramt im Dorf Gomaringen bei Tbingen an, wurde 1841 Stadtpfarrer in Stuttgart, 1842 Dekan und 1845 als Oberkonsistorialrat und Oberstudienrat Leiter der hheren Schulen in Wrttemberg. 1847 erhielt er von der Universitt Tbingen den Ehrendoktor der Theologie.
