Dabei wird zunchst die gesamte Kinotechnik, wie z. B. Filmspeichermedien und Sound und Projektionssysteme, aber auch Themen wie Bestuhlung, Raumakustik oder Klimatisierung behandelt. Danach folgt eine Beschreibung der organisatorischen Grundlagen fr einen Kinobetrieb. Im Vordergrund stehen hierbei die Beziehung zwischen Kinobetreiber und Filmverleih sowie Marketing und Programmplanung. Nach einer bersicht ber die verschiedenen Kinoarten und deren aktuelle wirtschaftliche Situation folgt eine Darstellung der Mglichkeiten und Risiken, die sich fr die Filmbranche durch die Einfhrung des digitalen Kinos ergeben. Dazu gehren Einfhrungsstrategien, Finanzierungsmodelle und der derzeitige Entwicklungsstand digitaler Projektionssysteme. Die Bedeutung des Electronic Cinema (ECinema) wird dabei getrennt von Digital Cinema (DCinema) betrachtet. Schlielich werden in dieser Arbeit die verbesserten Wettbewerbschancen, die sich durch die Umrstung auf die neuen Techniken ergeben knnen, beurteilt. Dabei wird die aktuelle Situation im Zusammenhang mit der Geschichte der Kinotechnik (in Bezug auf die bisherigen technischen Neuerungen) bewertet.
