In David, the King the dramatic Biblical account of the life of David is set in modern times. By recasting in the 21st Century the events of David's life in all their inspiring nobility and puzzling evil, we can better perceive how David's struggles can help us in our own quest to live as persons of faith in these profane and secularized times.David has a surprise visit from a granddaughter he has never met. She desperately seeks to know him and learn of his life for reasons she cannot disclose. He recounts his dramatic story, the events of which transparently parallel the Biblical incidents, until her critical need becomes apparent. In seeking to appropriate David's faith journey, she is launched on her own; and to help her David is once again called upon to put into action the qualities which made him David, the King, for posterity.
