[Read by Shaun Grindell]A classic title from M.C. Beatons New York Times bestselling Hamish Macbeth series about the death of a practical joker. Admittedly, theres a touch of black humor in the case. Rich, old practical joker Andrew Trent summons his kin to the remote Arrat House in the dead of winter for a deathbed farewell. They arrive to find him in perfect health and eager to torment them with a new bag of unfunny jokes. But this time the body that falls out of the closet is Andrew Trents own. And nobodys laughing.Especially not Constable Hamish Macbeth, who is hard put to glean any information from Trents unappealing nearest and dearest. And when the lanky constables former flame Priscilla HalburtonSmythe inserts her beautiful self into the case, Hamish must muster all his native guile to carry him through. Fortunately, he has a few clever tricks up his own sleeve which enable this most endearing of crime fighters to get the bestand lastlaugh.

Though I enjoy the series, this installment felt a bit predictable. The mystery didn't surprise me much, but it's still a fun read for fans of Hamish. Just didn’t have the spark of previous ones!

Hamish shines again!
I bought this for my grandma, who adores Hamish Macbeth. She finished it in one weekend. The witty dialogue and quirky characters made her laugh out loud!

Not my favorite in the series
I found 'Death of a Prankster' a bit slow compared to other books. The humor was great as usual, but some parts dragged. Still, it's Hamish Macbeth, so I enjoyed it overall!

Disappointed with this one
I really wanted to love this book, but it fell flat for me. The pacing was off and the prankster plot didn’t quite land. I usually look forward to these, but this was a miss.
