Unfortunately, 'Death of a Smuggler' did not live up to my expectations. The writing felt repetitive, and I found myself skimming through some chapters. I hope the next installment captures the magic of the earlier books better!

'Death of a Smuggler' takes you right into the heart of the Highlands. The setting was vivid, and I could almost smell the heather! The storyline was intriguing enough to keep me flipping the pages. Definitely one of my favorites in the series!

I liked 'Death of a Smuggler,' but honestly, the mystery felt a bit predictable compared to other books in the series. Hamish was still his charming self, and I loved the Scottish setting. It was a decent read, but I expected more twists.

Not My Favorite Hamish Macbeth Book
I’ve read most of the Hamish Macbeth mysteries, and while this one was okay, it didn’t grab me as much as the earlier ones did. The pacing was slow in parts, and the conclusion felt rushed. Still worth a read for die-hard fans, though.
