Over the course of eighteen years, Donald Harvey murdered at least fiftynine people while working as a nursing assistant in Ohio and Kentucky hospitals. His crimes shocked the nation; even today, Harveys name is invoked whenever those we trust in the medical system commit horrendous crimes. Now for the first time, Harveys courtappointed defense attorney, William Whalen, and coauthor Bruce Martin, reveal facts formerly protected by attorneyclient privilege in Defending Donald Harvey. With Harveys full cooperation, Whalen and Martin provide frightful insights into the mind of the cherubfaced killer. They detail his abused childhood; the confused search for identity that plunged him into Satanism and Nazism; the bizarre behavior reported by his coworkers but ignored by his employers; and of course his heartbreaking, brutal crimes. The book also includes an afterward by awardwinning journalist Pat Minarcin, who broke the story that opened a Pandoras box of multiple killings.

Honestly, I found 'Defending Donald Harvey' a bit disappointing. It jumped around a lot and didn’t really explain some parts clearly. I wanted more context about the victims and less focus on the legal side. Not what I was expecting based on the description.

A Gripping Read from Start to Finish
I couldn't put down 'Defending Donald Harvey.' The author digs deep into the mind of America's most notorious angel of death, and it’s chilling yet fascinating. The narrative pulls you in with real courtroom drama and the psychology behind his actions. Definitely worth the read if you like true crime stories!

Interesting, But Lacks Depth
This book had some interesting points about Donald Harvey's case but felt a bit superficial at times. I was hoping for a deeper psychological analysis of his motives. It’s still a decent read if you’re into true crime, but I expected more from it overall.
