Als Hauptgrund fr die Auseinandersetzungen kristallisiert sich dabei nicht der angeblich natrliche Ha der Balkanvlker aufeinander heraus, sondern das Festhalten an einer obsoleten Ideologie der Nationen. Weitere Beitrge in diesem Sammelband bezeugen, da auch andere Regionen in Europa sich dem Zwang dieser Ideologie nicht entziehen knnen. Doch deren Vlker haben in der Mehrzahl gelernt, nationale Konflikte politisch, d.h. vor allem friedlich zu lsen. Wann der Balkan seine Bedeutung als osmotische Region Europas zurckerlangt, hngt wesentlich von der Fhigkeit seiner Fhrungseliten ab, den realen Zustand ihrer eigenen Gesellschaften und ihre Bedeutung in Europa vorurteilsfrei zu analysieren, und von ihrer Bereitschaft, aus den Erfahrungen moderner (west)europischer Vielvlkerstaaten zu lernen.
