Unter dem Begriff 'Diskont' versteht man im allgemeinen einen Zinsabzug von noch nicht falligen Forderungen. Eine konkrete Ausgestaltung findet diese weite begriffiiche Fassung des Wortes Diskont anhand der Untersuchung des gewerblichen Diskontgeschaftes. Das Diskontgeschaft zahlt zu den klassischen Bankgeschaften im Sinne des 1 Abs. 1 Nr. 3 KWG und hat nahezu ausschlieBlich das Wechseldiskontgeschaft, das heiBt den Erwerb noch nicht falliger Wechsel gegen Zahlung der Wechsel summe unter Abzug von Zwischenzinsen vom Ankaufs bis zum Verfalltag 1 und meist einer Provision , zum Inhalt Das Wesen des Diskontkredits liegt also darin, daB der Diskontgeber (Kredit geber) nicht fallige (Wechsel)Forderungen unter Abzug des Diskontsatzes (Zwischenzinses), der bei den Geschaftsbanken urn Provision und Nebenkosten erweitert wird, vom Diskontnehmer (Diskontanten) erwirbt. 1m Gesetz uber die Deutsche Bundesbank vom 26. Juli 1957 erscheint der Ausdruck 'diskontieren' nicht; in der gewerblichen wie in der verwaltenden Kreditwirtschaft gilt er als Synonym fUr aIle unter Abzug eines Zwischenzinses angekauften Forderungen. Die Vorteilhaftigkeit einer Diskontierung liegt darin, daB sie dem Inhaber einer Forderung erlaubt, nicht erst den Eingang des Gegenwertes der Forderung nach Falligkeit abzuwarten, sondem sich bereits vor Falligkeit Bargeld zu verschaf fen. Zu den Diskontgebem zahlen in aller Regel die Geschaftsbanken und die Bundesbank. Sie schreiben den Barwert der Forderung, das heiBt die Forde rungssumme abziiglich des Zwischenzinses, gut und gewahren auf diese Weise dem Diskontnehmer bis zum Zeitpunkt der Falligkeit der Forderung Kredit.
