Obwohl Deutschland selbst nicht von Terroranschlgen betroffen ist, scheint es so zu sein, dass der Terrorismus sehr prsent ist. 2008 hatten 41% der deutschen Bevlkerung Angst vor Terrorismus (InfoCenter der R+VVersicherungen, 2008). Doch ist diese Angst vor Terrorismus berechtigt? Ist es der Terrorismus, der unser Leben und unsere krperliche Unversehrtheit so stark bedroht, dass er in den Statistiken als eine der grten wahrgenommenen ngste immer wieder auftaucht? Wirft man einen Blick auf die jhrlichen Statistiken der Sterbeflle, die das Statistische Bundesamt anfertigt (z. B. Statistisches Bundesamt, 2008), so taucht an keiner Stelle Terrorismus auf. Vielmehr sind es Herzkrankheiten und Unflle, die jedes Jahr vielen Tausenden von Deutschen das Leben kosten. Mit Hilfe von Erkenntnissen aus der Risikoforschung und Medienwirkungsforschung wird das beschriebene Phnomen in dieser Verffentlichung untersucht. Es werden dazu die verschiedenen Berichterstattungsmuster der Medien analysiert und mgliche Auswirkungen des Medienkonsums auf die Bedrohungswahrnehmung der Menschen beschrieben.
