Mit dem Unternehmen Airbus ist es den europischen Regierungen gelungen der amerikanischen Konkurrenz Marktanteile abzunehmen und ein Prestigeobjekt in der ffentlichkeit zu erschaffen. Kaum eine andere Branche hatte es bislang geschafft einen Handelskrieg zwischen der EU und den USA zu schren. Demnach stellt sich die Frage, ob das Unternehmen Airbus und der Mutterkonzern EADS wirklich ein Erfolg sind oder ob der Erfolg von der Politik und den Medien propagiert wird, um weitere Projekte ohne ffentlichen Widerstand zu subventionieren. Denn gerade der Erhalt und der Aufbau von Arbeitspltzen ist von Politikern ein beliebtes Mittel, um die ffentlichkeit zu weiteren Subventionen zu bewegen. Das Ziel dieser Hausarbeit wird es im Folgenden sein, die Frage zu beantworten ob Airbus wirklich ein Erfolg ist, also die zu Anfang gesetzten Ziele erfolgreich umgesetzt hat und ob die investierten Subventionen sich tatschlich rentiert haben. Der erste Teil dieser Hausarbeit beschftigt sich mit den Grundlagen, in welchen die europische Industriepolitik erlutert wird, und die Unternehmen EADS und Airbus in aller Krze vorgestellt werden. Das Kapitel ber die Geschichte von Airbus verdeutlicht die Bedeutung des Unternehmens fr die europischen Regierungen und wie viele Subventionen bereits in das den Flugzeugbauer Airbus investiert wurden. Der zweite Teil beschftigt sich zuerst mit dem Kalibrierungsmodell von Gernot Klepper, mit welchem die weltweite Entwicklung der Wohlfahrtseffekte bei Markteintritt von Airbus aufgezeigt wird und welches die logische Erklrung liefert, ob sich Subventionen lohnen.
