So verfllt der AmrainerSepp auf eine fatale Idee: er lsst den uralten Hof abbrennen und baut mit dem Geld der Versicherung einen neuen. Der Betrug wird aufgedeckt. In den langen Jahren danach verfolgt der schlitzohrige Jungbauer, geduldig und schlau taktierend, verbissenen und misstrauisch ein einziges Ziel. Er will den Hof behalten, ohne der Versicherung etwas zurckzahlen zu mssen. Dabei lsst er sich weder durch eine Gefngnisstrafe noch durch familiren Streit von seinem Weg abbringen. Graf schrieb diesen Roman nach einem wahren Kriminalfall. About the Author Oskar Maria Graf wurde 1894 in Berg am Starnberger See geboren. Mit seinem Roman Wir sind Gefangene gelang ihm 1927 der Durchbruch. Nach der Machtbernahme der Nationalsozialisten ging er nach Wien, ab 1938 lebte er in New York, wo er 1967 starb.
