Die Rekonstruktion der neokantianischen Kulturwissenschaft verfolgt die verschiedenen Begriffstransformationen, die von der Dichothomie von Individuum/Gesetz aus sich entfalten. Es handelt sich um einen krisenhaften Dissoziationsproze, in dem das neokantianische Subjekt sich in ein inneres Leben und ein ueres Gesetz verdoppelt. Damit wird die durch den kategorischen Imperativ legitimierte Kultur zur Sphre verschiedener Formen von Hresie gegen das Gesetz. Lieferte dabei die Definition der Kultur auf der Grundlage des kategorischen Imperativs ebenso die Legitimation fr eine ideale Interkulturalitt zwischen Juden und Deutschen, so ist diese jetzt durch den hretischen Imperativ gefhrdet, ber den sich der Begriff der Kultur retheologisiert und wegen der Orientierung an Paulus eben die jdische Gesetzestheologie mit dem kantianischen Ideal der Gesetzeskultur identifiziert. Die eigentliche 'Politische Theologie' ist das Signal fr die Destruktion der Theologie des Gesetzes. Der Hauptteil des Buches zeichnet in der Gegenberstellung von Carl Schmitt und Gerschom Scholem diese Destruktion nach. Wird das Judentum bei Schmitt zum Ausdruck einer verborgenen Hresie gegen die christliche Souvernitt, so entwirft Gerschom Scholem mit der sabbatianischen Hresie eine Gegenstrategie, die, indem sie den Diskurs der Kulturwissenschaft in einer originr mystischen Grammatik umformuliert, eine politische Theologie der nationalen Rettung darstellt.
