Den theoretischen Hintergrund bilden in erster Linie Konzepte und Ideen von Michel Foucault und Jacques Derrida bzw., etwas allgemeiner ausgedrckt, der Poststrukturalismus. Die Texte des Prsidenten der USA, George W. Bush, des USAuenministers Colin Powell, des deutschen Bundeskanzlers Gerhard Schrder und des deutschen Auenministers Joschka Fischer dienen der Arbeit als primres Analysematerial. Anhand der Analyse soll versucht werden aufzuzeigen, wie die Konfliktparteien in der Irakfrage ihre Politik als die richtige Politik verkaufen" wollten. Es geht darum deutlich zu machen, wie die beiden politischen Lager der Kriegsbefrworter" (vertreten durch die Position der USA) und der Kriegsgegner" (vertreten durch die Position der BRD) in der Irakfrage ihre Wahrheiten" und ihre Argumente als die legitimen darzustellen versuchten. Die Frage der Realittsdefinition, ausgefochten in einem Kampf der Diskurse, bildet den Hintergrund fr konkretes politisches Handeln, wie es sich dann z.B. in der militrischen Intervention im Irak und der Entmachtung von Saddam Hussein uert. Nur aufgrund der vorausgegangenen diskursiven Auseinandersetzungen werden bestimmte Handlungen erst mglich. Insofern scheint es folgerichtig, dass Diskursen die Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden zu ermglichen, aber ebenso auch auszuschlieen und zu unterdrcken. Und genau diese Eigenschaften gilt es in der vorliegenden Arbeit herauszustellen: die geopolitischen scripting strategies" der Akteure
