Examensarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Musik Sonstiges, Note: 2.0, Hochschule fr Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das ohnehin umfangreiche Werk Karlheinz Stockhausens kulminierte in quantitativer Hinsicht im Jahre 2003 mit der Fertigstellung des siebenteiligen Opernzyklus 'LICHT', dessen Dimensionen in der abendlndischen Musikgeschichte und der abendlndischen Kulturgeschichte insgesamt wohl einzigartig sind. In dieser Arbeit soll aufgezeigt werden, in wie weit dieses Werk in der Tradition des Begriffes 'Gesamtkunstwerk' aufzufassen ist, wie er von Richard Wagner, dessen Musiktheatertetralogie 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' Stockhausens 'LICHT'Zyklus in quantitativer Hinsicht nahe kommt, im 19. Jahrhundert geprgt (wenn auch nicht erfunden) wurde. In einem anderen Sinne kann man den Begriff 'Gesamtkunstwerk' jedoch ebenso auch Stockhausenspezifisch auf dessen Gesamtwerk (bzw. seine bis zu 'LICHT' komponierten Werke) anwenden, ist doch der LICHTZyklus gleichsam eine umfassende, sogar autoreflexiv zu nennende Bestandsaufnahme des eigenen Werks durch den Komponisten selbst, sowie eine Art Zusammenfassung der kompositorischen Strmungen und Stilrichtungen des 20. Jahrhunderts insgesamt. Die komplexen, vielschichtigen Zusammenhnge und der gesamtheitliche Ansatz innerhalb Stockhausens Schaffen wurden bereits lange vor Entstehung des LICHTZyklus von Theodor W. Adorno erkannt, der in 'Die Kunst und die Knste' zu folgender Aussage gelangte: 'Die gesamte Arbeit von Stockhausen kann als Versuch aufgefat werden, Mglichkeiten musikalischen Zusammenhangs in einem vieldimensionalen Kontinuum zu erproben.' Die vorliegende Arbeit wurde von Peter Schnur als Zulassungsarbeit zum 1. Staatsexamen an der Mannheimer Musikhochschule im Jahre 2004 eingereicht.
