Sowohl ihre Whlerschaft als auch ihre Mitgliederzahl schrumpften in den letzten vier Jahren dramatisch. Gleichzeitig wurden ihr von innerparteilichen wie auerparteilichen Kritikern unterschiedlichste negative Attribute zugeschrieben. Sie sei sozial kalt, htte sich sozialdemokratisiert sowie vom christlichen und konservativen Anspruch entfernt. Dass diese Vorwrfe auch von vielen Whlern und Mitgliedern geteilt werden, zeigen Mitgliederbefragungen und Whlerwanderungen. Doch hat sich die CDU seit dem fr das Wahlprogramm 2005 entscheidenden Leipziger Parteitag programmatisch bis heute so weit davon entfernt, wie Kritiker behaupten? Werden wirtschaftsliberale sowie wertkonservative Whler und Mitglieder durch die programmatische Entwicklung der CDU wirklich nicht mehr reprsentiert? Oder aber versucht die CDU strker, andere Whlerschichten auf Kosten ihrer Stammwhler anzusprechen? Und hat sie Erfolg damit? Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen sollen vor allem die Programme der CDU bzw. die Wahlprogramme der Union vom Leipziger Parteitag 2003 bis zur Bundestagswahl 2009 chronologisch analysiert werden. Die Arbeit konzentriert sich dabei auf einige klar umrissene wirtschafts und gesellschaftspolitische Sachthemen, von denen angenommen wird, dass sie fr wirtschaftsliberale und wertkonservative Whler und Mitglieder von besonderem Interesse sind. In der Wirtschaftspolitik liegt dieser Fokus auf der Einkommenssteuer, der Tarifbindung, dem Kndigungsschutz sowie dem ALG II.
