Fur den Deutschen AniisthesiekongreB 1984 habe ich als Schwer punktthema: "Der Risikopatient in der Aniisthesie" ausgewiihlt. Unser Fachgebiet hat in den zuruckliegenden Jahren weitere we sentliche Fortschritte erzielen konnen. Neue Aniisthetika und Ad juvanzien, verbesserte Methoden der Diagnostik, insbesondere der Uberwachung, nicht zuletzt deutliche Fortschritte in der tech nischen Ausstattung unserer Arbeitspliitze, haben uns neue Mog lichkeiten erschlossen, die Aniisthesieverfahren noch sicherer ge macht und vor allem den operativen Disziplinen neue Indikatio nen erschlossen. Sorgen bereiten uns zwei sich stiindig verschiir fende Probleme. Zum einen steigt der Anteil der Risikopatienten stiindig an, die Gefahrdung des Patienten durch Vorerkrankun gen im Sinne einer M ultimorbiditiit nimmt damit zu. Zum ande ren steigt aber auch, vor allem ohne Berucksichtigung der perso nellen und materiellen Ausstattung, die rechtliche Bedrohung. Zahlreiche Auflagen, deren Realisierung auch wir uns wunschen, sind aus Kostengrunden nicht erfullbar, die Grenzen der Lei stungsfiihigkeit vieler Aniisthesieabteilungen sind erreicht oder uberschritten. Aus diesen Grunden wiihlten wir zum Themenkomplex "Der Risikopatient in der Aniisthesie" fUnf Panelveranstaltungen aus, urn die Aufgabenstellungen fUr den Aniisthesisten unter den dargestellten Voraussetzungen definieren zu konnen. Neben den prii, intraund postoperativen Bereichen widmeten wir ein Panel dem Problem der klinischen Erstversorgung im Kindesalter, schlieBlich ein weiteres den juristischen Aspekten.
