Die Flucht 1945 fhrte sie zunchst nach Mecklenburg und ein Jahr spter nach Hamburg, wo sie 25 Jahre lebte. Hier studierte sie an der Hochschule fr bildende Knste und unterrichtete nach dem Staatsexamen an mehreren Hamburger Gymnasien als Oberstudienrtin das Fach Bildende Kunst. 1971 siedelte sie mit Mann und zwei Kindern nach Sddeutschland um, wo sie bis 1993 weiterhin am Gymnasium lehrte. Seitdem arbeitet sie freiberuflich als Malerin und Schriftstellerin. Whrend all der Zeit bereicherten Reisen nach Italien und Griechenland ihr Erleben und ihre Arbeit.
