Product DescriptionWeniger als drei Wochen betrug der zeitliche Abstand zwischen den ersten Demonstrationen in gypten im Januar 2011 und dem Rcktritt von Staatsprsident Hosni Mubarak, der das Land seit 1981 ununterbrochen regierte. Innerhalb krzester Zeit entwickelte sich eine ungeahnte Dynamik und Macht der Proteste, die zu einem Politikwechsel in gypten fhrten, dessen Transformation bis heute nicht abgeschlossen ist. Im Kontext des sogenannten Arabischen Frhlings betrachtet, stellt gypten einen besonders relevanten Fall der aufkommenden politischen Unruhen in der arabischen Welt dar. Die im Jahr 2010 begonnenen Proteste in Tunesien, breiteten sich in der gesamten Region Nordafrikas und der arabischen Halbinsel wie ein Flchenbrand aus. Die zeitliche Aktualitt dieses Themas wird deutlich, wenn man nun Mitte 2012 die unvollstndigen Transformationsprozesse dieser Lnder betrachtet, deren politische und gesellschaftliche Vernderungen noch im Umbruch befindlich sind. Die Dynamik der Destabilisierung von der Herrschaft einer ganzen Region, die vor kurzem noch undenkbar schien, lsst schnell die Frage nach den Ursachen aufkommen. Der Fall gypten hat nach meinem Verstndnis eine besondere Relevanz fr die politischen Verhltnisse in der MENARegion und knnte deshalb insbesondere fr eine weitere Ausweitung politischen Protests in anderen Staaten verantwortlich sein. Das Land verfgt mit 80 Millionen Einwohnern ber die grte Bevlkerung in der arabischen Welt, ist dort die grte Militrmacht und die zweitgrte Volkswirtschaft. Die Tradition und Philosophie in Religion und Kultur hat eine bedeutende Ausstrahlung auf andere Staaten in der Region. Besonders die gyptische Entwicklung politischer Institutionen und Normen finden sich in vielen arabischen Staaten wieder. Im Kontext des Nahostkonflikts hat gypten als direkter Nachbar Israels eine dominante Rolle als Vermittler eingenommen.
