Das republikanische staatszentrierte Modell leitet die Entscheidungen der Politiker seit der Franzsischen Revolution. Als Reaktion auf das ancien rgime ist das Staatsbrgerschaftskonzept ein politisches, was zu einer assimilatorischen Politik fhrt: Wer sich zu den Normen und Werten der Trikolore bekennt, kann Franzose werden. Parallel zu den europischen Nachbarn erfhrt Frankreich einen hohen Migrationsfluss in der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit. Als Arbeitskrfte sind die zumeist iberischen, spter nordafrikanischen Einwanderer von den privatwirtschaftlichen Strukturen in Frankreich erwnscht. Als Menschen mit Familie treten sie um die 1970er Jahre in den Vordergrund und werden immer fters als Problem' gesehen. Die Politisierung des Migrationsthemas findet in diesem Jahrzehnt statt, nimmt seit her an Wichtigkeit zu. Diese Untersuchung wird folgende Frage stellen: Kann man davon ausgehen, dass eine rechte Regierung eine restriktive Immigrations und Auslnderpolitik betreibt, wo eine linke eine liberale favorisiert? Die These wird sein, dass die Frage bejaht werden sollte, man aber einen Grundkonsens in zwischen Rechten und Linken feststellen kann. Auch wenn die Rhetorik sich in den Parteiprogrammen und Reden noch stark unterscheidet, nivelliert sich die tatschliche Politik innerhalb eines begrenzten Spektrums, das von keiner Partei durchbrochen wird. Zuerst wird die Geschichte der Migration nach Frankreich kurz dargestellt, mit besonderem Fokus auf die Jahre 1945 bis 1958, die von der eigentlichen Untersuchung ausgeschlossen wurden.
