Eine wissenschaftliche Untersuchung der Rolle des deutschen Militrs in jenem wichtigen Zeitabschnitt fehlte jedoch. Diese Lcke fllt die vorliegende Arbeit. Nach der Untersuchung der Planungen, die das deutsche Militr fr eine gespannte politische Situation und Mobilmachung erstellt hatte, werden an Hand einer Flle von bisher unbekannten Quellen die Ereignisse innerhalb der deutschen Streitkrfte whrend der Julikrise dargestellt. Dabei reicht die Bandbreite der Beschreibung von den Spitzen in Berlin bis hin zu den Ereignissen auf der Truppenebene.
