The incredible sight of hundreds of civilian airliners stored..lifeless, in the desert, now makes the news as much for the spectacle and curiosity it creates as for the recession that spawned the phenomenon. Four out of every five of the worlds stored aircraft are parked up in the southwestern United States, and the airline proportion of this figure grew quite significantly in the recent past, peaking at over 1,000 airframes in 1992. Part of the main storage area at Mojave Airport in California contains this neat line of eighteen British Aerospace 146 regional jets last flown by US Ai, which were inherited by the airline upon its merger with Pacific Southwest Airlines during the spring of 1986. This book covers history like this along with hundreds of magnificent photos of these desert airliners.
