A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a flexible data communication system implemented as an extension to a wired LAN within a building or campus. WLANs transmit and receive data over the air minimizing the need for wired connections using electromagnetic waves. In the project I have developed & implemented a receiver for using in Extended Service Set (ESS). I studied a Satellite receiver fully and developed the tuning software. The basic scheme of our receiver will be like this satellite receiver. However other parts also need some programming in some cases for ESS receiver. The receiver can be designed in any of the frequencies allowable by IEEE standard. However we have chosen 60 GHz because we already had a 60 GHz transmitter and with that we can make a wireless multimedia link between Radios. The tuning software was checked with experimental setup.
