The Fiells run a design consultancy in London, and have curated a number of exhibitions and written a number of articles and books on design. This book features the work of 100 international contemporary designers and design groups from the areas of product design, transportation, furniture, ceramics, glassware, and textiles. Photographs of their work are accompanied by statements of their visions for the future of design. Several themes found in these statements are also discussed in the introduction to the book, including the potentials of new materials, the effects of new technology, the need for simplification, the psychological aspects of design, and the tendency towards either individualistic or universal solutions.
